will depress other countries. as i said, president obama, in his first term, he promised a lot. when the united states came back to the negotiations under obama's leadership, there was a standing ovation. the u.s. is back and they will take the lead. unfortunately, it prevented others from acting, and it is actually in danger of doing worse than what bush did. bush said, i do not believe in a climate change. if you want to do something, do it and leave me alone. but this present team says we are the leaders of the world. if we cannot do much, we do not want others to do much. i hope in his second term president obama will show more of leadership. we know he has problems with congress and public opinion, but that is what leadership is about. we look forward to a change in the positioning of the data states so that it can take its proper place among the leaders who will fight climate change, show an example to the developing countries, and also provide money and technology transfers to developing countries. in doha, they are not showing any leadership on that. developed countries seem

embrace what america is all about more than people who are actually born in this country. i think we keep complaining that the wealthy, on the buffett end, yeah they support obama because it helps their guilt and they could afford it. the other wealthy, the 250,000, they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. to mark's point, anyone out there who does not think that at some point we're going to come around 200,000, 150,000. stuart: hold on a second. under obama care the taxes which will pay for it go into effect on january 1st, three, four weeks from now, that will hit people who make $200,000 a year, not 250, not 350, $200,000 a year. charles: right the taxes on medical devices is a de facto tax on every single person who visits a hospital every person who hopes to be saved one day by medical science. all these taxes are out there. the ultimate point why are they so rigid on this 250? they have to go lower to ultimately fund this giant government. >> yeah, 250, 200 still sounds high to a lot of people watching this, but basically if you're earning upwards of $40,000, the burden

avoid the fiscal cliff, which is the christmas present the country needs. today we heard president obama's response to the proposal that house speaker john boehner put on the table yesterday. >> the speaker's proposal right now is still out of balance. >> of out of balance. kind of similar to what republicans said last week when the president sent over his terms. so now what? will they sit down and talk it through? well, not according to at least one senior republican aide who told cnn today, no conversations today, no e-mails, tweets, carrier pigeons. as for boehner and obama, they actually did see each other in person at the white house holiday party last night in black tie. while other lawmakers waited in line to get the photo with the president, multiple sources from both sides of the aisle tell cnn that boehner wasn't among them. so much for holiday cheer. we have this picture. we're waiting for the day there's a fiscal cliff. there wasn't total silence in washington today. senate majority leader harry reid spoke up. but in his case, in the form of a swipe. >> i sympathize wit

treaty has been signed by 154 countries including the u.s. it's been ratified by 126 nations, not including the u.s. president obama, in other words, signed it a couple years ago, but it's not been ratified by the united states senate. to be clear, this treaty would not require anything from us at all. we already have disability rights. it just pushes other countries to do what we have done. we would commit on an international level to what we already believe in here. ratifying that treaty would help us lead the rest of the world to catch up to that historic leap that we took as a country when president bush signed that legislation. with the exception of a black helicopter conspiracy theory on the right championed by failed senator rick santorum, he, who i should mention is a columnist at a birther website, that's his job now, except for his nutso theories ratifying this treaty was a political no brainer. it has bipartisan support. this has the real thing. real bipartisan support from leading democrats and leading republicans. this treaty has vocal support from veterans. so many o

obama, secretary clinton, be have made it absolutely clear as have other countries this is a red line and i believe president assad has received that message from several quarters. the question now is, you know, will someone else grab on to them? there's certainly risks where we are with respect to syria. i would not close the door completely to some kind of an agreement whereby president assad could move to another country and the reason i say that is, that the dangers of an imploding syria, of the complete implosion of the state, are really serious and contrary to the national security interests of the united states. it's in our security interests to be able to get a transition that is controlled and that is negotiated and that is orderly. the alternative to that is you could have 200,000, 500,000 people killed and so i do not want to lock myself into nor do i think our nation should lock ourselves into, a complete refusal to create the dynamic where we can avoid that kind of death and destruction and where we will not serve our greater national security interests. and therefore, i
